Aajonus Vonderplanitz has a presence on Facebook

To all interested in blogging about the Primal Diet, this is to let you know that Dr. Aajonus Vonderplanitz, PhD. Nutrition, now also has a presence on Facebook.

You can join the chat that is ongoing on his page. There are interesting people, interesting questions and interesting responses! You are welcome to add your input into that chat.

You may also sign up for the blog and follow us and make posts on the blog, at www.wewant2live.blogspot.com.

This is for people with pets who eat healthy raw foods.

This post was from Dawn, about her pet dog, and how he got her to try the Primal Diet of Dr. Aajonus Vonderplanitz, PhD Nutrition.

"My 16 month old dog has been eating raw longer than I have, VBG! He was my inspiration for trying the Primal Diet. He beat all his litter-mates in this year's WRA Nationals (Whippet straight racing 200 yards per race, 4 races in the day) coming in 19th of 63 dogs entered. He's a wonderful athlete and a joy to have.

"He was on the raw diet for 3 weeks before I got him. Then I tried the vet's suggested dog food but he stopped eating. After reading "Switching to Raw" by Susan K. Johnson, he started eating again when I offered him raw food. He loves it. And now 1-year later we can see what a healthy happy boy he is. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm looking for a racing buddy in a second Whippet for him to run with at the Dog Park."

Is The Raw Food Diet Good For You? - The Larger View

In an article on timesonline in the UK entitled Is Raw Food Good For You, the writer states: Cutting out meat, fish, eggs, dairy foods and cereal grains would result in the loss of many nutrients.

Who could argue with the fact that cutting out meat, fish, eggs and dairy foods would result in the loss of many nutrients!

The thought does not occur to her apparently that eating these foods raw IS part of a healthy raw food diet.

You just need good sources to know for sure what you are eating – for example are your eggs from cage free chickens? Does it matter if they are fertilized? Are the chickens fed waste products? Or soy? Is raw cheese salted? What is wrong with adding salt? Do I get enough natural salts in a balanced raw diet? Is the beef or buffalo or mutton grass fed exclusively? Are the fish from the deep sea or from contaminated waters?

There are lots of questions. Aajonus has asked these questions and many more. In addition to The Recipe for Living Without Disease which tells many practical and important facts and techniques for food preparation, he has created a report of producers and distributors in the USA whose food products are within his standards. This can be obtained on the www.wewant2live.com site; click here for more info.

There are other questions about organic vegetables exclusively which can be important because vegetables and particularly vegetable juice is part of a balanced raw diet. The word organic gets re-defined by vested interests to the point where the only way to be sure of the nutrient value of your vegetables is to grow them yourself using techniques you will find at www.organicfoodforless.info. Other gardeners and horticulturists have parts of the picture but this horticulturist in Australia has the whole picture and it is easier, costs less and is more rewarding than you may have thought.

What is the priority of weight loss vs health?

The Raw Food Diet is inching towards the mainstream as evidenced by AARP and 'Medical News Today' even spelling out some of the benefits and the four broad branches of raw foodism (raw vegetarian/vegan/omnivore/carnivore). The 'raw carnivore' category purportedly eats other foods cooked but all meat is eaten raw. Living in southern California, I have met many raw vegetarians, raw vegans and raw omnivores (such as people on the Primal Diet of Aajonus Vonderplanitz, viewable at www.WeWant2Live.com) but I have never met someone who eats only meat raw and all other foods cooked. I think that category itself is slightly 'cooked' and is theoretical rather than real. I am willing to be enlightened if someone wishes to give me more info at theinterviewguy@gmail.com.
The aspect of the Raw Food Diet that I am addressing today is what priority does one give to having a svelte appearance but health problems vs building health by eliminating bad and dangerous fat while replacing it with health-giving raw fat. As 'weight loss' seems to be THE priority in magazines and tabloids, in top selling books and programs, one would think this question has been answered in favor of looking thin. Vegetarian and vegan raw dieters tend to be thin but not muscular - with exceptions of course. I have interviewed a 20 year raw vegetarian who became a raw omnivore then, while keeping his exact same clothing size, put on a lot of muscular weight. He is now turning 63 years old and is vigorous and looks great. He demonstrates that weight gain is not always a problem nor does one's size necessarily increase along with increased (balanced*) consumption of healthy raw fat on an omnivore type of raw diet.
One case is cited by Aajonus (copied here from the www.WeWant2Live.com site where it appears with the author's permission): "...one thirty-something patient was 280 lbs. and was addicted to ice cream. I trusted her instincts, that she needed the cream. I gave her recipes to make raw ice cream ... Within 5 months she had lost 140 lbs. and the craving for ice cream. After only 4 years on my Primal Diet...she maintained her weight at 125 lbs., without having to think about her weight to this day..." from an interview by Dr. Rae Bradbury. The full article can be found here .
As always, each individual needs to determine his/her own dietary path after sifting through the available information.
*See The Recipe for Living Without Disease, the section on recommendations, to see what a balanced raw omnivore diet is.

Aajonus - a world class nutritionist - visits with friends

World traveled author and speaker, and originator of the Primal Diet (TM) a raw food diet, will be in Marina Del Rey to visit with friends and talk about how to restore and maintain your health.

From one who has been there, Aajonus Vonderplanitz, PhD., came out of the grips of disease and death, when he was a terminally ill cancer patient in his early 20's. He has outlived his death sentence by 40 years. A very perceptive and experienced nutritional consultant, he is also a hands-on researcher. The fruits of his years in developing the Primal Diet (TM) are his two books: “We Want To Live” and “The Recipe for Living Without Disease.” It is a privilege to have him in Marina Del Rey on Sunday November 1st, starting at 1:00 p.m.

There will be a pot-luck party from 1:00 to 3:00. Then there will be a discussion period called a “Q&A” period for the next two hours, where Dr. Vonderplanitz will address and answer people's questions. The pot-luck party is free; the discussion period costs $30.00 for anyone wanting to stay and hear more details about the Primal raw foods diet. This is an educational feast for those interested in their own health, and the health of their family and even their friends. Details of the pot-luck party and Q&A are available at www.wewant2live.com. On the left navigation bars, click on “Aajonus' RADIO SHOWS, lectures, workshops, potlucks and more.” You will get an orientation as to what goes on and what to expect in such a setting.

Jim Ellingson, who runs the www.wewant2live.com website has said “This is good people, a good time, and a great way to meet someone important, who has changed the course of many lives for the better.” If you are curious, show up and see for yourself. You might gain an understanding of some of the basics of nutrition, and how to apply the principles of good health in your own life.”

The raw food diet "as seen on TV"

Hi all,

"It" all started in the postwar years of the nineteen-fifties with Westinghouse spokeswoman Betty Furness' LIVE, on-camera TV performances when she brought her weekly, kitchen-oriented, homemaker-friendly sessions into our living rooms.

During these widely popular TV broadcasts, Furness often demonstrated the use of her Westinghouse liquifier/blender appliance before a LIVE guest and audience. The little Westinghouse Liquifier/Blender became the amazing vehicle to launch her now-famous, "multi-vegetable juice cocktail recipe."

Furness was responsible for this first-ever, eight (possibly more) liquified vegetable(s) Juice Cocktail, long before a similar, secret recipe ever became known as THE now-familiar V8 Juice Cocktail, and the property of the Campbell Soup Company. Furness, however, put V8 together FIRST, RAW, HOMEMADE, and on LIVE-camera TV before our very eyes, about fifty-one years ago. A nutritious and delicious new fitness drink recipe was born, and health-awareness history was made.

Soon afterwards, with so many movie screenplay characters mimicking Furness' morning vegetable juice cocktail ritual in their movie plots, the practice was quickly popularized as the homemade vegetable fitness drink, immediately making it a permanent fixture in modern-day, nutritionally-aware, upscale Americana.

To this day, over fifty years later, hundreds of thousands of us STILL follow Furness' timeless example, making our own FRESH, RAW, UNPASTEURIZED V8 vegetable juice coctails, every morning that fresh vegetables are available from our gardens, supermarket and/or refrigerators.

[Dr. Mercola, of internet fame, eats about 85% on the raw food diet, including raw eggs and raw meat.] "Raw food" is now the popular subject of more new books than any other of recent classification. ...The practice of "UNcooking" food, formerly prevalent only among primitive cultures dating from ancient Polynesia, but now de regeur in modern, upscale suburbia, is sweeping the environmentally friendly 'green' movement and becoming the silent revolution in kitchens all over the world.

Simply put, cooked food is not only an empty, enzyme-less morass of denatured anti-nutrients, but is, in its covertly sinister action, an insidious, progressive, blood vessel clogging substance. As such, it is little more than a caustic foreign agent, and a slow-acting systemic poison.

Consuming cooked food is scarcely more than subclinical suicide and is tantamount to tossing an odd collection of nuts and bolts into the finest, most delicately-balanced machinery known.

Although it may take decades of stealth to complete its sinister work, A) the processed/cooked food habit slowly and covertly nibbles away at our vital energy, B), it saps our strength and initiative, C), as the progressive disease process signs and symptoms eventually become serious enough to demand diagnosis, it is then given an orthodox medical name, and palliative medications are prescribed. As an expected outgrowth of this diagnosis and the orthodox medical treatment plan, eventually the usual crippling and reduced mobility develops. D), if no other action is taken to address the *true cause of the condition, the ravages of the process will continue unabated, eventually completely overwhelming ALL of the natural defenses of its unwary (and/or unwilling) host.

Why not take the time now to learn more about, invest in, rejuvenate, and re-vitalize your most valuable asset? We have but one body. A continued reliance on popular, albeit well-intended misinformation can slowly, almost imperceptibly, undermine and destroy health, at whatever its stage.

Can you afford to allow your state of health to follow its present course? In my opinion, two volumes can drastically alter that course for the better: 1) "We Want To Live" and 2) "The Recipe For Living Without Disease." Both by Aajonus Vonderplanitz, PhD. For more information, go to www.wewant2live.com.

To your health,

Children thrive on the raw food diet

To Steve O. in response to your post of 16 Feb:

I read your post and was fascinated. I have been on a raw diet for almost 12 years, 99% raw, I call it more instinctive eating, RAF [see Raw animal food diets in Wikipedia], sometimes vegan, just meat, whatever works! My wife is also on a raw diet and she has been for about 2 years. Our children Kayla who is 3 and Adam who is 2 are both raw, meat, eggs, chicken, fish, some dairy, veggies and fruit as well. Kayla started at about 11 months, Adam-since he was born. They both started with only raw breast milk for the first few months of life. My wife is pregnant now, full term, and due any day! We wouldn't do anything else! I would like to email or talk with you and compare notes, I am sure we could learn a lot from each other!

How to detox naturally

And Build Health With A Good Raw Food Diet.
by Barbara Ellingson. The following has been borrowed from the www.wewant2live.com website, with the author's and webmaster's permission.
Building Health and Detoxing on a raw food diet are two things that can occur together, only because of how our bodies respond to raw food. This way of eating which we call the Primal Diet, could even be called "how to detox naturally". There is no question that these bodies of ours are trying to survive the onslaught of industrial, food, airborne, and other toxins (sometimes self-induced toxins if only in the form of excess food and drink), to remain alive and healthy and to function for a very long time!
But back to our subject of building health and detoxing: on the one hand, our bodies are nourished by the raw, unadulterated fats carbohydrates and proteins we eat. On the other hand the raw fats naturally bind with toxins and escort them safely out of the body. For example we have heard Aajonus Vonderplanitz say often, that taking a sugar cubed size chunk of raw unheated and unsalted cheese, encourages the body to dump toxins in to the stomach, which the cheese then "mops up". Then of course we follow this up about 10 minutes later with other good quality raw food, which nourishes us.
That could either be freshly juiced vegetables, or a meat meal, or a fruit smoothie, etc. One overlooked factor in all this is that it happens so gently on a raw food diet--relatively speaking, compared with other historical methods (whether they were/are effective or not) like leaching, cupping, fasting and more modern procedures like chemo-coctails, and other highly toxic drug compounds and in the other extreme, cleanses. There seems hardly a risk to the raw food regimen, since these foods can be so delicious to eat, and also easy to prepare. Please see the book called "The Recipe For Living Without Disease". There is also little to no risk when we consider that this type of raw food detox diet can be added to any ongoing health routine. Aajonus Vonderplanitz has often said that we shouldn't attempt to force or speed up a detox, since it happens well enough anyway. Evidently he has reserved speeding up a detox diet for a few brave and healthy souls like himself and close compatriots, who have been on the raw food diet for some time, and who might not mind some of the reactions! He even gives ways of slowing down a detox to avoid those reactions. Please refer to his book "We Want To Live". But to FEEL the results of good health that are available by eating the raw food detox diet, is a wonder in itself, when we consider that a state of good health is really our birthright, and is at the foundation of everything we do every day!

True health depends on real and live food.

Throw out all other health books... as I did two years ago. Start today. Keep in mind that it takes years on this [raw food] diet to roll back all the abuses that your body had to endure on cooked diet and "dead" food. There's no time to waste "to be ready or not". I wish I had discovered earlier this guy. True health depends on real and live food. I recommend it to anybody. Even if you think you're healthy it would be wise to give this diet a second look.

CANCER, FROM A SURVIVOR'S VIEWPOINT!

This is being written by a person with cancer

who has vital information to share based on successes with a raw food diet. Hello, I am Barbara Ellingson here, alive and kicking, on planet earth, 2008!

Over the fateful Labor Day Weekend in 2006, when I was transported on a stretcher in an ambulance because I had been unable to move for 3 days due to back pain, they did an MRI at the hospital and I got diagnosed with advanced spinal cancer.

My prospects were bleak in terms of cancer recovery—and I know because I got to see the MRI on the medical doctor's lap-top computer. That was the picture worth 1000 words. It certainly explained why I'd ended up immobile and in the hospital to begin with.

I called Aajonus Vonderplanitz PhD Nutrition, right away. I won't go in to how I had heard of him earlier, but suffice it to say I got started on his recommended raw food diet and herbs at that time. I could tell within a week that I was no longer being consumed—from the inside. The raw food diet was that calming, even before I started the herbs. (By the way, I am now walking around.)

My nutritionist zeroed in on 2 main factors that are common to holistic cancer treatments: detoxification and nutrition, but not as you will usually find— when you read his books, you will see. The herbs he recommended as being non-toxic were intended as a more aggressive treatment beyond the diet, so that I would not end up paralyzed due to spinal nerve damage as a result of the cancer.

So here I am still alive and doing well (all things considered) two weeks short of two years after cancer-diagnosis, with what the hospital doctors believe (in the absence of a biopsy) is most likely the multiple myeloma form of cancer. I had chosen not to have a biopsy done because we knew the tumors on my spine were malignant, and I did not want to risk spreading the disease. Since then I have chosen to receive no medical treatment for cancer at all: that is, no surgery, no radiation, no chemotherapy. The latest MRI and blood tests (one and a half years after the original tests) show essentially no spreading of the cancer since it was first discovered! I am just one example of living proof of a cancer treatment that is relatively gentle, and that really does hold a promise of full recovery down the line.

Note: at the bottom of the home page on the website is a picture of me strangling the cancer monster, and also a poem that I wrote and dedicated to my nutritionist. Then you will see that the 1st five chapters of this author's first book are available to view on the website FOR FREE. Please get the flavor and concept of this and see what you think.

Also, the information you'll find about nutrition is also great for preventing illnesses of various kinds and for boosting good health—it's not only helpful with cancer. As we know, our good health is our most valuable commodity. It's easy to take it for granted, even though it really stands at the beginning of all that we embark upon every day in life!

primal diet - I haven't been this healthy since 6 or 7 years old

To Aajonus,
Like many others I also tried many different things to fix my problems. Antibiotics (though only when it got really bad), creams, oils, and finally I began an informal and slack elimination diet. I read about your raw food diet once or twice but didn't take to it until I did some more research on you and the primal diet. The more I read, the more it made sense and the more hope I had. Then I tried the diet and sure enough, immediate results. Apparently my body doesn't tolerate sugar/starches/grains very well. And as a result my skin would produce bacteria overload and thus infections. Well a year later and I eat a mostly raw diet and love it. I have more confidence because my face is not all marked up with quarter sized puffy infections and life is pretty good.

Ok so I did give my life story a bit, but I guess you can just toss this in to the bin with the rest! Mostly I just want to thank you for pioneering something that is so taboo. My family still thinks I'm crazy but I know the truth, and the proof is in the results. I haven't been this healthy probably since I was 6 or 7 years old, I'm now almost 22. If there's anything I can ever do for you, or you're in Minnesota and want a place to stay and get some good quality food, shoot me an email, I'd be honored. No need for a reply, I know you're a busy guy, thanks and keep up the awesome work!

Raw Milk discussion lead by a California Senator

Raw Milk is under discussion in this footage about "The Fresh Raw Milk Act"...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5FoFoFNeCk&feature=email
Aajonus is sitting to the right of Ron Hull but his talk is not covered in this you tube footage.
He says "I did not speak about the scientific aspects because there were 4 there to do that. I spoke on an empirical basis about getting well [with the raw food diet] and thousands of people who did not get well. Also, I spoke about the issue that bacteria are never pathogenic but that food additives were. No one wants to hear or accept that."
When he receives the latest version of the bill (possibly next Monday) he may comment further.

View a character sketch of two well known advocates of a raw food diet

Many of you have probably never heard of Dr. Aajonus Vonderplanitz.

Although somewhat lesser known than Dr. Joseph Mercola (of mercola.com *fame), the two men are very close together in their wellness philosophies [particularly in pointing out the benefits of a raw food diet]. In their disciplines, their fearlessness and dedication to altruism has distinguished both men as virtually unassailable. In the opinion of many, these men rank as the two most nutritionally advanced health researchers/authors alive today.

This is no accident. Both men are fond of speaking their mind and when they lecture or hold workshops, corporate moguls cringe while chips fly like confetti at a tickertape parade. Where truth is at stake, these men seldom exhibit any respect toward corrupt vested interests.

*Dr. Mercola has an osteopathic practice in Chicago and authors the most visited alternative health and wellness website on earth (subscribe to his newsletter, as regards to breaking wellness news, it's easily the best and it's FREE!).

Dr. Vonderplanitz now lives in Malibu, Ca., is a former 'soap opera' star, a published author, worldwide lecturer, has a website, and offers a subscriber-only newsletter available at (www.wewant2live.com). Dr. Vonderplanitz has quite a medical history (from which he recovered, following his own unique, hard-earned, meticulously-researched wellness protocol). [You may find a workshop not far from where you live; check his itinerary for the next several months].

To your good health, Mark R., Birmingham, Alabama

Emotional benefits from the raw food diet

I always looked at the psychological benefits people [on the Primal Diet] would report, sound mind and emotions and all of that and didn't really believe it was all that much more than placebo, which is positive enough even so. Well, recently I've had higher charisma like making easier conversation even though I haven't had much life change and actually I've had some bad things happen as far as negative confrontation and still keep a level head more easily than usual. So, thats been pretty amazing that I experience that without believing it. Just noticing those emotional benefits from the raw food diet. I think it's the raw fish on my brain and [raw]beef on the glands and [raw] milk just relaxing and being my favorite comfort food.
Also, I actually started the diet to reverse my ACL*, four months later, I feel great and do climbing in a rock wall on campus but for technicality's sake I haven't gotten an MRI** yet to prove that the impossible (ACL's don't heal [according to doctors]) has yet occurred.

Raw food lover asking you to get in touch about where to live...

I am summarizing an entry from DD looking for a better life with more abundant raw food.
She is looking for sources of good food including raw dairy products in the area of Miami Florida.
She is considering living in areas that interest her AND have the necessary raw dairy products
(milk, cream, butter, eggs...). This could include Southern Californa, certain communities in Mexico (nearest Puerta Vallarta) or NYC . She would like to hear from anyone who cares to communicate about the above or other locations where the raw food diet, specifically the Primal Diet, can easily be followed. You may contact her directly at deniman@hotmail.com or make comments on this blog.

Living experience on a raw food farm

Day 26 1/7/05

Tired, super tired, sore. Super tired and sore, super sore, sore. I woke up earlier, not necessarily early this morning. 6:00 am, we had to have a lot of packages out by 10:30. I had to get up earlier. I got out there, it was still dark. Peter was already in the barn cleaning the gutters (which is really a two man job) by himself. Every time I see him I always say, “HHHHHEEEEEEYYYYYYY!!!!” ... really loud and excitable. He likes it. He smiles and says, “HEY!” back. I help him clean the gutters. He puts the shovel in the gutters, lifts up the poop and starts pushing. I have a piece of hay-bale string, tied around the shovel. I grab both ends of the string, wrap them around my hands and elbows and walk backwards. Poop is heavy! I have to put my back into it. The ground is sometimes slippery with urine and poop, I have to watch my step. We start talking about different things. He says they might stop having the Organic Valley milk truck come to his farm, they are able to use enough of it for marketing directly to the public. That makes him happy. He says he really enjoys what he’s doing and they’re starting to make better money doing it. He says that he’s happy that he can make money doing what helps people. He says, “It’s really hard to pay off the farm.” They are barely paying back the interest right now. He says he can’t wait till he has the farm paid off so he can just worry about making good products1. He said that he’s going to miss me... that it won’t be the same without me there. It really touched my heart. I told him that he needs to come visit me in California. He smiled at that. He said he hasn’t had a vacation in years. He has never seen the beach to the ocean before. I don’t think he knows what a dolphin is. I’d love to show him what a dolphin is. I’d love to win the lottery so I can pay off their farm and have them be able to produce grass-fed Jersey milk and meat for me for the rest of my life. They are really good people. We finished the cows, I ran over to where Albert was and began getting packages ready. I took a heaping tablespoon of high vitamin butter oil mixed with cod liver oil. I got a huge rush or energy and was bouncing around. The work was easy. We were late getting the packages out. The driver was getting impatient. Albert could sense this and felt bad. He tried to joke with him. Albert was packing an oxtail. He took it over to the driver and said, “Do you know what this is?” Driver said, “I can guess.” Albert started laughing and said, “I know what you think it is, you think it’s a penis!” It was really, extremely, funny to hear Albert say that at that time. I kept laughing as I was cutting the cheese. We finished the packing. I bottled some whey and went into the kitchen. I was talking with Elizabeth and Naomi (Yomo). Elizabeth said, “I heard you’re on a diet, who told me you’re on a diet?” Naomi asked if I was on the Aajonus raw food diet. I felt ashamed for some reason and I kind of brushed it off. I had to break down ten chickens into boneless and skinless parts. These were the same chickens that I caught, killed and gutted. Now I’m doing the final thing. I was sick and tired of chickens. I wanted to quit when I found out I had to do ten of them. I originally thought I only had to do four. Naomi showed me how to break the chicken into parts and cut the meat off. She said she used to work at a market. She’s really good and fast at that. She asked me what Aajonus’s diet was while were chatting. I told her it’s a lot of raw meat. She didn’t really say anything. I was eating a couple pieces of the raw chicken. I offered her some. She said, “No.” It didn’t really have a particular taste at all. I ate it and felt really charged and energized. I got really good at cutting the chickens up. Before I did the chickens, I played Naomi in Ping-Pong. She’s pretty good. She’s aggressive and impatient. She’s a red-head, she has a lot of fire in her. I was beating her and then started going easy on her near the end. She then beat me. I won 3 or 4 and she won 2 or 1. I played George next. He beat me 4 games to 1. I started beating him with this killer new serve I had. It bounced once on his side then would bounce diagonally. He was never prepared for it and I got him every time. I then used it so much, he caught on and then it didn’t work anymore. We had to chase pigs today. The smaller pigs were getting too big and needed to be moved under the chicken house with the bigger pigs. Chasing pigs is extremely difficult. They ran fast and if we tried to herd them one way they would go right around us. Good thing I ate that raw chicken, it gave me the energy I needed to chase them. Pigs are like the corvettes of the barn animal world; low to the ground, fast and able to make sharp turns. We had to yell stuff like, “HHHEEEYYY!” and “YAAAHHH!” and “GETTA’ IN THERE!” really loud and in deep, scary, scratchy voices so they would go where we wanted them to. One pig wouldn’t come in. We chased him all over the property. I dived and tried to get him, I missed but I touched him. We finally got him in. Albert was acting kind of weird towards me. Not talking or smiling too much. We went right into the barn after that. He was still acting weird. I had been suspecting it was the raw meat thing. I brought it up half-jokingly if he told Naomi and Elizabeth if I was doing the “Aajonus Diet”. He kind of laughed and slightly denied it. He then admitted it and touched me on my chest like when someone touches me on my shoulder. It felt like a caring touch. He was kind of looking down, sometimes smiled. I told him I wasn’t on his diet, I was just trying it for a day or two. He said that it was fine and it was okay for me to try that if I wanted to. It didn’t seem like he really meant it. I told him I want to cook for people to make them feel better. I said Aajonus cured himself of cancer and other diseases that he attributes towards eating raw meat. I told him I need to experience every diet so then if I need to cook for someone who is sick, I can help them. He understood that and said that it made sense. I said that people thought I was going to get sick that it was gross to drink raw milk, but now I know that raw dairy is healing because I have tried it. I would have liked to have experimented more diet-wise being here; his farm is definitely the place to do it. I don’t know if raw meat conflicts with his religious ideals or what. I could tell it made him uncomfortable. I didn’t want that to happen. When I brought it up, he said it was kind of funny that I decided to switch from Sally to Aajonus all of a sudden. He was laughing though. I believe everything is okay now. We were sweeping up the rest of the hay when Peter came and said there was someone to see Albert. He was a tall English (non-Amish) guy. Albert told me to go finish sweeping the hay. I started sweeping. I tried to listen in on the conversation. I heard things like “equity”, “I know you like raw milk but…”, “You’ve had your fun…”, “Bacteria…” “You guys are on thin ice.” He said that twice2. Albert and Peter didn’t seem too happy. They finished talking and he left. Albert wasn’t talking much. I asked him a couple minutes later who that guy. He said, “He used to be the old organic certifier for Peter.” I asked him, “What he was there for, to say hi?” Albert said, “Yes.” We had to chase the six new Jerseys into their stalls. It was very difficult. It was their first time in a new barn. We had to fight to get them into their stalls. Once they were in the stalls, they didn’t know how to stand in there correctly. They would stand in the gutter and kick at me if I got too close. It felt like prison almost, and they were the new inmates. I could imagine the Holsteins yelling, “FIIISSSHHH!!, FIIISSSSHHH!!” It was funny. One Jersey would not go in, we kept fighting her. We would get her in the stall and she would then bust out and make a break for it. I would grab her chain as she came running by. I tried to slow her down and grab her neck like they do in rodeos. I didn’t slow her down at all. I was being dragged really fast and almost got slammed into other cows a couple of times. I felt like I was playing football and I tackled someone and they were dragging me towards the goal line. It was fun though. Albert was a man. He grabbed the Jersey’s tail and was twisting it to try to get her in the stall. I was too afraid to get kicked. He was a super farmer man. He was right up against the butt of the cow grabbing and pushing and yelling. He was very brave. That’s what a man is, someone who wrestles cows for a living. For breakfast I had raw veal cubes, eggnog and cheddar cheese. Lunch was a hodge-podge of sour creams ( piima, crème fraiche and sour) and raw chicken.

1 It is very difficult for an Amish farmer to make enough money to support himself. Albert says that Organic Valley would pay him $22 for a hundred weight of milk (100 lbs). 100 lbs. is about 8 gallons ($2.75 a gallon). Albert has 3 options. 1. If Albert feeds the cows mostly grain, they will produce 3-4 gallons a day. 2. Mostly grass with a little bit of grain, will be closer to 3 gallons. 3. If he feeds them only grass and hay, they will only produce 2-3 gallons a day. Albert has 50 cows. Option 1: He makes between $562-$750. Option 2: Around $562. Option 3: Around $375. As you can see, financially it makes far more sense to produce an unhealthier, grain-fed milk instead of a healthier part grain/part grass or grass only. Another note, once he pays for the cow feed, electricity and the hundreds of other miscellaneous things it takes to run a farm, he is making a very small profit. It is no wonder most family farmers never get out of debt and end up having to sell their farms.

Avoiding heart disease with a raw food diet

My side of a story belongs on this blog. You will be hearing the other side of the story soon on this same blog. That there are two sides of the story does not mean this has been an argument, but there are definitely different points of view. I wish to remain anonymous by the way.
The story you will be hearing one of these days on this blog is from my wife. I will call her Molly.
The strength of her character is what makes this important to tell. Maybe some day I will write the book, but in a few seconds let me just say that she puts the word 'caring' in a whole new ballpark. I may be biased, but a complete stranger is not. A patient sharing a hospital room with her and only overhearing her conversations, later that day pleaded with the doctor to really take care of Molly well because she is somebody really special. In a nutshell, over Labor Day weekend on 2006 Molly went to the hospital because for three days she could not get out of bed or even stand. She was diagnosed at that time with advanced spinal cancer, based on the tumors in full view on an MRI.
Let me say right now that in my opinion, this could have been avoided. I say this with 20/20 hindsight in full view. If what I say enables anyone visiting this blog to avoid the same mistake we made, I will be glad.
The thing is, we had both read We Want To Live: the Primal Diet. We had both already benefited greatly from the work Aajonus has done. We should have known that he really has mapped out how to live without disease and there is no need to try other diets.
At the time we read the book (in 2001 or thereabouts) and Molly had a consultation with Aajonus, she was suffering from an illness only partially identified by an M.D. & heart specialist practicing in Beverly Hills (after a wrong diagnosis by an earlier M.D.). Aajonus spotted the (heart disease) problem easily during our consultation and he spotted what made the problem continue (inability to get a good night's sleep). He spotted these things not based on anything that we said, but through correct use of iridology. He told us the raw food diet details to enable Molly to reverse this disease. Within one year of following Aajonus' recommendations, Molly went from being a space case [where she couldn't climb stairs, would forget where she was heading when she got out of an elevator and so on] to her natural bright and intelligent state. She passed a physical exam by an M.D. with no trace of the former problem.
Right after this victory is where we made the mistake. She then went off Aajonus' recommendations a) she had solved the problem that had been so destructive before the raw food diet, b)because she didn't like the taste of some of the items on the menu (this was just before The Recipe for Living Without Disease came out, giving many many recipes for making food that is good for you also taste very good) and c) as apparently is the case with many good looking women, she was concerned about gaining weight.
Weight loss is the apparent goal of many diets offered these days. Molly selected one acclaimed weight loss diet, got the required check-up from her M.D. and started. She lost weight right away and continued to lose weight. Back problems began to creep into her life. This continued right up to the point where she ended up in the hospital diagnosed with cancer, over Labor Day weekend in 2006. Please understand there is no medical advice in anything I am saying; also, we are not naming the specific diet nor accusing them of intentional wrongdoing.

Now you will be able to follow her story, when it arrives on this blog, with an understanding of what happened before the diagnosis that brought her back to the raw food diet 100%.
