Raw Milk discussion lead by a California Senator
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5FoFoFNeCk&feature=email
Aajonus is sitting to the right of Ron Hull but his talk is not covered in this you tube footage.
He says "I did not speak about the scientific aspects because there were 4 there to do that. I spoke on an empirical basis about getting well [with the raw food diet] and thousands of people who did not get well. Also, I spoke about the issue that bacteria are never pathogenic but that food additives were. No one wants to hear or accept that."
When he receives the latest version of the bill (possibly next Monday) he may comment further.

Raw Milk Is The Only
Healthy Milk; Why Has It Been Outlawed?
by Aajonus Vonderplanitz, Nutritional Scientist/Nutritionist/ Author and Retired Raw Dairy Farmer Carlet Hoff
There is too little known among the general public about the benefits of raw milk, even though raw milk was the foster mother of mankind. Controversial seems to be a week adjective when considering the vehement rhetoric of individuals who lash out against it from miseducation and fear. The bacteria-phobia has no empirical base. There has been no clinical tests studying people drinking raw milk, that contains feared bacteria, to prove or disprove the theory that pathogens finding their way into raw milk can cause ill effects in humans drinking it. Even vegetative nutrients found in raw milk have been falsely blamed for ill effects. The crusade against raw milk has been lethal to the empirical evidence that raw milk and raw milk products are probably the most nutritious food most people can consume.
Pasteurizing milk, which is the process of cooking milk at a minimum 155 degrees F. for at least 15 seconds, gained popularity when farmers didn't have the technology to produce, package and deliver all their raw milk fresh. Pasteurization LENGTHENED the SHELF LIFE of milk. Suddenly, farmers were able to hold and transport their milk instead of dumping it or feeding it to the hogs. Until then the primary focus of milk was that it was a healthful food. With pasteurization, milk became a commodity, an economic issue, that generated Hollywood-like unscientific horror stories about raw milk spreading diseases.
For years health-minded individuals, teachers, professors, politicians and even doctors fought the battle against pasteurization of milk because of the obvious weakening effects it had on humans and animals who were fed pasteurized milk. The destruction of the nutritional properties was evident in the results. Early in the battle, several countries outlawed the feeding of pasteurized milk to infants. Not only does pasteurization destroy the major proportion of vitamins, enzymes and minerals, it creates contaminants, such as transitional lipid oxides and protein toxins. Pasteurized milk cannot maintain the biological antibodies and enzymes present in raw milk, some of which can prevent a large variety of diseases, including cancer. Have we opened the gates for a Trojan Horse regarding raw milk?
healthfully,
aajonus
To our blog readers, the following is the UNamended bill for your viewing. Many raw milk supporters have evidently been tricked into supporting this, even though it would have serious repercussions throughout the USA and the world. Please check this blog regularly for the next few days until the changes have been viewed and considered against the big picture i.e. what this means for the USA and the world.
SB201: Fresh Milk Act of 2008 - The Details
Senator Dean Florez said it best when he held hearings on Farm Fresh Milk in April of this year. He said we want "World Class Raw Milk for California." SB 201, sponsored by Senator Florez, Senator Perata and Assemblymember Berryhill accomplishes just that.
SB 201 starts its abbreviated journey through the legislative process this week. With six hours of Senate hearings and testimony from experts from around the world, the Senate record on raw milk is strong. Because of the tremendous amount of work by Senator Dean Florez, Senator Don Perata, Assemblyman Mike Villines, Assemblywoman Nicole Parra, Assemblyman Tom Berryhill, Whole Foods President Walter Robb, Sally Fallon, Dr. Ron Hull, Dr. Ted Beals and many others, this world class Raw Milk bill has gathered broad political support.
SB 201 pioneers standards and regulatory protections that are the first in the nation, are holistic in addressing every critical process in the dairy, and provide greater protections for consumers than the standards currently in law. It promotes consumer choice in California by keeping raw milk available on store shelves, while at the same time increasing food safety protections to ensure that the raw milk sold in California is the safest in the nation.
For the first time in the United States, SB 201 mandates a HACCP (food safety) plan at California's raw milk dairies. This type of individualized food safety plan is presently utilized by food processors in other industries in California, and was deemed to be the best alternative to promote raw milk food safety by scientists at our recent hearing.
SB 201 provides for at least eight times more testing for E. Coli 0157:H7, standard plate count, and coliforms as each raw milk dairy is required to provide an independent lab product samples at least twice per week. There is presently no such requirement in California law. In the past, CDFA has performed simple tests that were used as indicators that harmful pathogens may be present. SB 201 instead requires the CDFA to test directly for the pathogens that cause illness in humans at least once per month. CDFA may take raw milk samples from any location deemed appropriate. Testing directly for pathogens provides a more accurate picture of what is contained in the final product.
Finally, this bill prohibits raw milk dairies from receiving milk from other dairies that do not meet these stringent requirements.
These innovative food safety measures, when taken in their entirety, provide multiple layers of protection to our consumers, ensuring that California continues to be the leader in raw milk food safety.
