Two Anti-aging Authors, Both Authorities in their Field, Present Very Different Approaches

During the year 1997, two important books came out having to do with halting or slowing the aging process. These two books were written for two completely different sets of people and take two completely different approaches to the subject.

"Grow Young With HGH" by Dr. Ronald Klatz deals with anti-aging exclusively. It is a very detailed work, giving a huge amount of simply stated descriptions of the various factors in reversing the aging process, with references to research. By the end of his book, he predicts by 2002 the average life span would be 85 years old. (I think he meant in the USA.) He predicts by 2007 the average age span would be over 100 years old.

The growth hormone enhancement program detailed in Dr. Ron Klatz' book is aimed at individuals who can & would pay the costs of the HGH therapy. The therapy recommended in his book had the cost of about $10,000 - $18,000 per year in 1997 dollars.

We have fallen short of his life expectancy expectations, particularly in the USA. Could it have anything to do with the food we eat?

At the other end of the spectrum, also in 1997, a book came out by an author known at the time by only those who had come into contact with him personally. This book is "We Want To Live: the Primal Diet," by Dr. Aajonus Vonderplanitz. With this book, evolved a 'grass roots' movement which really started at the time the author - who had himself been through standard medical treatments for cancer in his 20's, then "sent home to die" - brought himself not only back to life, but to increased, vibrant health. (Dr. Vonderplanitz, PhD Nutrition is now 62 years old, having outlived his death sentence by 40 years.)

This book is written in two parts; the first part "Out of the Grips of Disease and Death" is the story of rebuilding the health of his son through raw foods, (after his son's near fatal accident where he was not expected to live the night...). [The first five chapters are free on the site; click here.] The second volume within the same book, is "Healthfully, the facts" in which the author details what happens when foods are cooked or processed, and then covers the anticipated benefits of a balanced raw diet. There are specifics about particular foods, proper preparation of food, as well as remedies for specific physical conditions, and also some opinions (labeled as such) about current medical methodologies.

"We Want To Live: the Primal Diet" was flanked by "The Recipe for Living Without Disease" in 2002, giving much practical information about how to prepare dishes, as well as complementing several points that had been opened in his first book, to say nothing of the many recipes in there that give variety to the consumption of raw foods--making them anything but monotonous!

The reason Dr. Aajonus Vonderplanitz' books are mentioned on the same page as the work of Dr. Klatz is because both authors deal with anti aging. Dr. Vonderplanitz' results are attained through a balanced regimen of raw foods and without any supplements. Both are worth reading by anyone interested in the benefits of anti-aging.
