Living experience on a raw food farm - day 2

Day 2 12/14/04

Ok, I’m tired, I admit it. It’s a good tired. My back is sore and I still feel good. I’ll probably still feel good as long as my back doesn’t give out or get too sore. Cows are dirty. They’re more than dirty, they’re filthy. They shit everywhere and I mean everywhere: On their udders, on my shoes, they flick it in my face, they can rebound it off the wall and make it land in my mouth or in their vaginas. I seriously don’t understand why cows don’t have major vaginal infections. They shit right on their vaginas. The poop oozes out of their ass, slides across the taint or no-mans land and then oozes ever slowly, slowly across and in their vagina. They don’t care, they’re oblivious to it. They might even like it. I don’t understand how human women have to pee after sex or they get vaginal infections but cow women can poop in their vaginas and be fine. Maybe that’s why men are attracted to sheep more than cows, because even “the shit in the pussy thing” is a turn off even to potential beastialiters. I like to talk to the cows, when I go to the barn in the morning. When they are all there I like to say “Hello Girls” or “How are my Angels” like Charlie’s Angels. They all look at me when I say it; maybe they are saying “Hi Charlie” back. When I clean their udders before I milk them, I’m supposed to say “Whoa” and touch them on the flank so they know I’m there. When I clean their udders, if they are particularly dirty ones, I like to say in a sleazy voice “You’re a dirty girl,” or “aren’t you a dirty girl” and “You’re a dirty girl...Ain’t ‘cha”. I really get a kick out of it. When I’m done cleaning them or milking them, I like to say “Thank You”. If just feels right. I know if someone was rubbing my nipples against my will I would want them to say thank you also. One of them tried to kick me a couple of times today.

I cleaned and packed chicken eggs today1. It took me over four hours and I still didn’t get them all done. It’s funny, I’m so used to having someone come and rescue me when I get too tired or have been working at the same task for too long. The Amish simply don’t care. Or maybe they do care, but are just used to doing repetitive tasks for so long that it doesn’t bother them2. I was cold and sore in the basement, cleaning chicken poop and vaginal debris off of brown eggs. Chicken eggs are disgusting. Want to know what a chicken egg looks like fresh out of the chicken? Bloody tampon + the contents of a lawn mower bag + egg = Fresh chicken egg. Barn animals are disgusting, yet cute in a strange sort of way. I went on my first horse and buddy ride today with Peter, Albert’s father. We went to Homer Adams’s house to make ice cream. They had a gas powered ice cream machine. Horse and buggy rides are fun. The best part is when the horse poops and the smell hits you right in the face. Peter is nice; he cares about good food and believes in what he’s doing. I’m tired. For breakfast I had eggs over easy, yeasted, soaked spelt bread, some kind of sausage gravy thing cooked in copious amounts of butter. (Albert adds more when Marie isn’t looking). Real milk + yogurt. For lunch I just snacked as the day went on and ate Kefir, raw eggs, cream, and cream with honey. For dinner I had mashed potatoes with butter (Albert added more), chunks of ham, garden fresh frozen peas, and a slice of sourdough spelt bread, and lots of butter. My hands smell like cow poop. Goot-Nat (Good Night)

1 Albert had a hen house with over 3000 chickens in it. It was about the length and width of a football field. He was packaging these eggs to be sold under the Organic Valley Free-Range/Cage-Free label. I asked him how could they be marketed under Free-Range/Cage-Free if they didn’t even get that much sunlight and they were crowded together. He said, “I try to let them out as much as possible, but during the winter it is too cold, they would die. Also, I am only required to give them 1.75 sq ft. of space for each bird to be considered Free-range.” Actually, there is no real legal definition for those types of eggs. Albert wasn’t a bad person or trying to mislead people. It was just too expensive for him to not raise them the way he did.

2 I spent hours in this dusty, dark “free-range” barn working alongside Susan and Naomi; two 14 year old Amish workhorses. I remember them bent over the egg conveyor belt, cleaning the debris off eggs in the fading sunlight. Not once did they take a break, go to the bathroom or complain. I was really able to see the difference between our two cultures. In their culture, in some ways, the sexes are more equal. Even skinny, 14 year old girls have to do the same heavy, manual labor that boys and adults do. And they never complain. I honestly think that was the first time in my life that I chose not to weasel my way out of something. It was at the second, in the dark, allergen filled chicken house of death that I pushed passed that invisible barrier and started to become a man.

Former vegan bodybuilder getting well on the Primal Diet!

(We will hear more about living experience on a raw food farm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, here is a testimonial just received from a former vegan involved
in body building who is benefiting from the Primal Diet after just five days!)
Hi Aajonus!
You may just be helping to save my life, buddy.

I've been a suffering invalid for the past ten years,
because of an inability to fall asleep. This came
about after I got into bodybuilding and went on
a completely nonfat, no-carb, all protein diet, with
lots of cooked chicken breast and cooked egg whites.

Tried everything in the world to help myself,
including the full gamut of Western Medicine,
then The Gerson Therapy (vegan-ism), Natural Hygiene
(vegan-ism) and most recently, extended periods
of water-fasting.

I woke up five nights ago with an insatible desire
for something, which I couldn't figure out. After
tasting every bit of food in my house and not being
satisfied, it finally came to my attention that it
was RED MEAT that my body was asking for.
I had been full-on vegan for two years now. I was
stunned! It was the middle of the night, so I had
to go to IHOP unfortunately, in order to satisfy
my craving, but it was a revelation to me. The
very next night the same thing happened.
Ironically enough, I had just read an article a few
days previous about somebody who had recovered
from cancer using raw liver. This goes against all
my training in Natural Hygiene, which posits that
protein should not be consumed in illness, as it
just adds to the already huge pile of toxemia
which your body is trying to eliminate.

Then, while researching that, I came across
your name. This was the day after my first
meat craving. I've since read your book, and
this is my fifth day on The Primal Diet.

Aajonus, for the first time, I'm going to get well.

You have no idea what hope I feel in my breast
at this moment. My body is getting better.
I can intuitively sense it. I am experiencing
very strange sensations of fatigue, that are not
like my normal fatigue, but I know that it is very
positive. My sleep is also getting better. My
body does indeed feel more soothed!!!

I"m so excited!! I moved to Venice six years
ago, so I could be near Gold's Gym, which is
what I want to do with my life. I have wanted
to become a competitive bodybuilder ever since
I first discovered bodybuilding, and consequently
got sick, a decade ago. Now I also want to
become a nutritionist and help others to
overcome their health problems as well.

I'm just so excited to hear about you, and see
all the good work you've done to help people.
I hope I get to meet you someday.

I just wanted to say "Thank you."

Living experience on a raw food farm - who is who

Albert Fischer: 25 years old at the time I was staying with him. He was about 5’6”, thin and brown hair and beard with reddish streaks in it. I first met him at a Weston Price Conference on Long Island where he had a booth selling his raw dairy products. I was so impressed with the quality of his food and his views on life I asked him if I could intern with him for a month. He said, “Yes” and that is where The Amish Diaries began. Albert was a very driven yet caring man. He had a lot of weight on his shoulders. His father had given him a farm down the road to manage. He was in charge of everything; the cows, chickens, horses, pigs and repairs. He saw raw dairy as a way to better the life and health of him and his family and was willing to work as hard as he needed to get it. When I was there, it became the norm to skip lunch entirely and just do 2 meals a day, there was too much work to be done. Even though he was surrounded by stress, he was still a good man and would help anyone that he would meet.

Marie Fischer: Alberts wife and mother of three daughters; Lucy and Lisa (twins) and Barbie. Albert and her had met in their church group and it was love at first site. She was a Jack of all Trades, like most Amish women. She could cook, clean, butcher chickens, watch the children and still have dinner ready on time. She always felt that Albert worked to hard and wish he would spend more time with the children. She was understanding though and was always there to support him. She was very accomadating to me too, always making sure that my sheets were clean and that I was comfortable.

Lucy and Lisa Fischer: Albert and Marie’s twins, a year and a half old when I was there. Short and cute, they looked like 2 baby Amish dolls. They only spoke Pennslyvania Dutch and did not understand my English too well. It freaked them out a little to have a 6 foot tall California dude live with them and sleep in their bedroom, but they handled it pretty well. Lucy was shyer than Lisa. They were definitely mommy’s and daddy’s girls, they knew how to work their parents. At times they would whine and cry so much it would drive me crazy, I loved them though.

Peter Fischer:

Albert’s Father, about 50 years old and shorter than Amos. He walked stiffy and had peppered hair and a gray beard. He looked like a miniature Gandalf from Lord of The Rings or a tall dwarf. He was nice and always polite, he would always tell me that he was glad I was around. He was the one who first got the family into the raw dairy business. He had attended a talk by Sally Fallon (Weston Price Foundation) that she gave about raw milk and decided that he wanted to start selling it.

Naomi Fischer

Albert’s younger sister, about 14 years old. She had fire engine, red hair and a personality to match. Adults would continually remark on how smart she was and I saw it to. She was very capable, able to do long, hard farm work without complaining. She was always a match for me in ping pong

Susan Fischer

Albert’s younger sister, about 14 years old. She was a little bit shyer than Naomi and just as hard as a worker. We generally did not spend too much time together.

George Fischer

Albert’s younger brother, about 16 years old, he looked like a little Prince Valiant with his haircut. Like the rest of Albert’s younger siblings, I was impressed by how smart and hardworking he was. Whenever there was free time, we would sneak away and get in a couple of rounds of ping-pong (during which he would usually beat me). He had a lot of temptation. He was entering rumspringa (Amish rite of passage) and many of his friends were starting to drink and party. He was always cool though, the worst I ever saw him do was listen to Christian country music on his secret boombox or watch a football game at a friend's house.

Barbie Fischer

Albert’s younger sister, about 21 years old. Albert’s youngest daughter, Barbie, was named after her. I didn’t spend to much time with her. She had just gotten married and was busy with the preparations. She looked the most like her mom.

Peter Fischer

Albert’s father, about 50 years old, long grey beard. He looked like either a short Gandalf or a tall dwarf. He had a stiff walk, which was something I’ve seen among a lot of other elderly Amish farmers. I could tell that he worked hard his entire life and his body had paid for it. He was always very kind to me and wished that I could have hung around longer. Even though he was dedicated to sustainable farming, I found it ironic that he would have highly questionable foods in his kitchen.

Elizabeth Fischer

Albert’s mom, about 50 years old. She was short, stooped over, grey hair and had non-beauty mark moles with hairs growing out of them on her face. She was slightly hard of hearing and a little senile. She was generally very serious but I could always manage to get a smile out of her I could tell that she is definitely a farmer’s wife and had led a grueling life. She might have been pretty once, but time had not been kind. She was a foreshadowing for her daughters; they might be pretty now, but give them 20 years and watch out!

Homer and Lisa Adams

Homer was the quintessential successful sexy Amish man. Tall, handsome, kind and a beautiful family, he seemed to have it all. His farm was a big contrast from Albert’s where the energy was generally more stressful. He had an all Jersey herd that produced incredible dairy; he grew vegetables as well. He and his wife Lisa had two boys. Lisa was one of the main reasons that they started getting into a healthier lifestyle. She had poor health much of her life; raw dairy and unprocessed foods are helping her recover.

Living experience on a raw food farm - day 1

I’m writing this first journal entry by the light of a kerosene lantern. Becky, Albert’s wife, gave me an electric one, but I told her I didn’t want to be a weenie so she got me the kerosene one. I still have the electric one as back up just in case. I got dropped off somewhere in Amish Country in Lancaster, PA. The taxi driver and I spent 45 minutes trying to find 759 Grass Fed School Road. Imagine our confusion when Grass Fed Road ended at the 500 block (which we thought might be the same as Grass Fed School Road). She (the cabbie) was starting to get frustrated so I told her to just drop me off somewhere and I would walk around. I was dropped off in the middle of Amish country, 50 degrees and windy with an hour left till darkness. I had no idea where to go and couldn’t phone Albert because the only phone he has is in a shed on the road by his house and his voice mailbox was full. Suddenly, down the road I see a black horse and buggy. Maybe they will know where I can find Grass Fed Farm. As the buggy gets closer, I notice a young Amish woman in it. I try to make eye contact and she looks at me briefly, then continues down the road. It’s getting colder and I have no idea where I am. I see another vehicle, this time a white van. As it gets closer, I see that it is owned by the fire department of Lancaster. I flag him down and tell him my dilemma. He lets me hop in and we drive about a block until we see Grass Fed School Road. The farm was only a block away from where I was. I see Albert and we talk about my trip, etc. I hang out for awhile watching him fill out orders. It’s his father’s farm, and after a few minutes we head to his farm, right down the road. We enter his house and he introduces me to his wife Marie, his dog Sparkle, and his daughters, Barbie (10 months) and the twins Lucy and Lisa (1.5 years old). His daughters look at me shyly and his wife greets me warmly. They pull out dinner that they were warming for me in the oven. It was chicken croquettes. Some kind of green beans with brown sweet stuff and some shredded potatoes with cheese and butter I think. Good stuff. I eat about half of it. A little later he takes me to the barn and puts me to work. The first thing I do is “clean the gutters” which consists of helping push a shovel down a gutter filled with cow poop and piss. It’s pretty glamorous. Albert’s father, Peter, is there too helping out. He introduces himself and makes polite conversation. That night I end up milking the cows (with machines), clean up poop and feed them hay1. The cows seem half oblivious, half freaked out, by the new face. Maybe they’ll get used to me. I’m slightly tired sore and I’m starting to get a migraine. At least I’m not in Manhattan.

1 Milking Holstein cows is very scary. They are a million and one ways they could kill me in an instant. Kicking in the head, crushing against the metal bar, etc. Steps to milking cows the Grass Fed Farms way:

  1. Approach from behind, a little to the side. If I approach directly from behind, they probably will kick my head in. Say, “Whoa” so they know I am there.

  2. Put my hand on flank. Start wiping feces and what-not off udders while hand is on flank. Throw paper towel in gutter.

  3. Attach milking hoses to udders. Come back when the cow is dry. Try not to get kicked in the nuts backing out.

  4. Hurry! The other cows are leaking in anticipation!

Living experience on a raw food farm - preface

My name is Nathan Donohoe. I am telling you my experiences with raw food and living and working on an Amish farm where this wonderful food is produced. Before I start, here is a preface so you understand where I am coming from.

So how does a “never worked a day in his life” white boy from the suburbs of Dallas, Texas end up living with a raw milk bootlegging Amish family in Lancaster, Pennsylvania? To put it simply, the common love of good food.

I first met Albert at a Weston Price conference in Long Island, New York. I was volunteering for the event and one of the event organizers, a kindly old man named Harry was allowing me to spend the night with him. Albert as well as another Amish named Mathew Fischer were selling their wares at the event and needed a place to stay. So Harry invited them to stay the night also and we had a big sleep over party.

It was the next day that I truly began to fall in love with the idea of living with Albert. His booth was a veritable buffet of life. Cheeses, yogurt, eggnog, creams, eggs, breads, kvass. This was the first time in my life where I was truly able to eat anything I wanted without fear of ill consequences. I remember eating a cup of one of his homemade egg-nogs, then being so overcome by the flavor and nutrition that I asked for 2 more. The more I ate the better I felt (usually the more I ate, the worse I felt with food). My stomach was bulging but I was fat, happy and felt no pain. I was starting to believe that I found the answer, that I could actually feel good for once in my life. Years and years of praying to God to make me better were finally coming true. Then it hit me, I was graduating cooking school in a couple of months and I was required to do an internship. Why not ask Albert? He agreed immediately and that is how The Amish Diaries began.

Throughout the next several days, I am posting nearly the exact transcription of my diary entries of living with Albert from December 13, 2004 to January 14, 2005. If it were up to me, I would have left it exactly as I had written it. However due to reasons of clarity I have been advised to do some minor edits, add foot notes and an index of names. Also, names and places have been changed in order to protect Albert and the other people mentioned in the book. As you will find out, the Amish are a private people and I wish to respect that. Besides what I have mentioned, everything that you are about to read is exactly as I have written it. It is my intention to preserve the soul and “rawness” of my experience and have the reader be able to experience the excitement and newness just as I was experiencing it.

There are many reasons I wrote The Amish Diaries. I wanted to bring to light the extraordinary struggles that ordinary people go through in order to make healing food available to the masses. In this day and age, nutrient-dense food is a luxury and not a right and I want readers to see that without the continued efforts of people like Aajonus Vonderplanitz, Sally Fallon, Albert and many others, their access to healthy food will be become more and more restricted. To this day, Amish Farmers are still being illegally harassed by the PDA (Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture) and other government organizations and whether it keeps happening or not is up to you. You the reader must not expect others to do it for you, or as the old story goes, once everyone else is gone, no one will be left to stand for you.

I also wanted to share the journey that I went through as I was figuring out “which diet is right for me”. I often tell my friends and clients who are in the process of changing their diets that they need to be aware of how big a shift they are making in their lives. Friends, habits, lifestyles, living situations and relationships will all be drastically affected, for better and for worse, simply by changing what we put in our bodies. The public is generally not aware of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual pain that people like myself and others must go through when we change our diet. We don’t do it because it is a fad or we are [hypochondriacs]; we do it because we must in order to live. There is an intense amount of self-reflecting that goes one. A continual building up and breaking down of the ego that must be done in order to rid oneself of the self-imposed mental barriers that much of the time are the real cause of our unhealthiness. I want others to see that they are not alone and it is normal for these feelings and situations to happen. If my suffering can help a few people transition easier in their diet, then I am doing something right. It has been said that it is easier to change ones religion than one’s diet and in my experience this has been true.

I hope you enjoy The Amish Diaries as much as I did writing them. When you have finished reading please check out some of the organizations listed below and make a generous contribution. These organizations are dedicated to making healthy food available and they desperately need your support. I am donating %5 of all profits from the sales of this book to Right To Choose Healthy Foods. An organization set up by my good friend Aajonus Vonderplanitz, that fights for us to get the foods we need to be healthy.

Benzene, Cancer and Soft Drinks Connection

Benzene, Cancer and Soft Drinks Connection

The FDA continues its harmful-to-the-public relationship with industry; How to remove benzene from the body

by dr. aajonus vonderplanitz, ph.d. nutrition
(Suggested remedy in last paragraph.)

Benzene is listed as carcinogenic by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA). FDA and the beverage industry have been aware of the fact that sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid together form benzene in soft drinks since at least 1990. They even debated about how much a drink's exposure to heat could exacerbate the benzene-problem. There was discussion about reformulating soft drinks to reduce benzene to safe drinking-water levels but nothing was mandated. The FDA set no maximum limit for benzene in soft drinks.

Recently, a concerned industry whistle-blower paid for independent testing and discovered that some soft drinks still contain benzene levels considerably above the limit allowed in water. The story was reported in February 2006 by a BeverageDaily.com investigation. Consequently, FDA re-opened its investigation of the benzene-issue.

An FDA chemist and the US soft-drink association stated that some soft-drink firms might not know of the potential for sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid to form benzene in drinks. Anyone who believes that any multi-billion-dollar-yearly industry is not aware of everything about the
chemistry of its products is naive. The chemical reaction of sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid help create the zing and addiction that appeals to soft-drinkers. The soft-drink industry does not want to stop using it in some products even if it causes or helps cause cancer in its customers.

Industry and FDA continue to assure us that consumers are not at immediate risk from drinks containing benzene at the levels found in soft drinks to date. Science, rather than speculative belief, shows that there is immediate harm to soft-drinkers. FDA has knowingly allowed consumers to drink carcinogenic benzene for 15 years and kept those who needed to know ignorant.

For people who consumed soft drinks and want to remove any bodily storage of benzene before it could cause cancer, I suggest that they drink 1-2 cups of raw mixed vegetable juices of
only 90% celery and 10% cilantro once daily around noon-time for 5 consecutive days. I suggest that they eat 1 tablespoon of no-salt-added raw cheese and 1 tablespoon of unsalted raw butter or avocado about 20 minutes after drinking the juices. I suggest that they repeat that process every 10 days for 2-6 years, depending on how much soft drinks they consumed.

Raw Food Diet Recipes - Banana Cream Pie that is good for you!

Raw Food Diet Recipes - Banana Cream Pie that is good for you!

If you were to list your top 10 favorite dishes of all time, chances are over half of them would be “taboo” from the health point of view. The “taboo” dishes would have some ingredient or procedure that places them out of bounds in any discussion of health.

On a list of current easily available and inexpensive food items (fast food), most likely 10 out of 10 are out of bounds. If you don’t see it that way, take a look at Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser.

It is possible to have a Banana Cream Pie that IS healthy!

Shopping for healthy ingredients is the first step. Read labels carefully and ask qualified store representatives, verifying foods are completely raw. This recipe is like all other recipes in the book - it is tasty and good for you. The book tells you how to get these products.

Elsewhere in the book, the technique for whipping raw cream is described; an Osterizer blender and an 8-ounce blender container are needed.

The recipe that follows is quoted from The Recipe for Living Without Disease by Aajonus Vonderplanitz; it is a copyrighted work, printed with the author's permission.

"Banana Cream Pie
"10 Servings

"CRUST
1 cup walnut halves
2 tablespoons unsalted raw butter
1 tablespoon unheated honey

"FILLING
2 eggs
6 non-steamed dates
3 bananas
8 tablespoons unsalted raw butter
2 drops organic vanilla extract, (optional)

"TOPPING
15 ounces raw cream
1 to 2 tablespoons unheated honey, (optional)

“Crust: Place 1 cup walnut halves, 2 tablespoons unsalted raw butter and 1 tablespoon unheated honey in food processor and blend until ingredients form a ball. Butter bottom and sides of an 8- or 9-inch glass pie-dish. Spread nut mixture and flatten evenly into the bottom of pie-dish. Chill in freezer for 15 minutes while making the filling.

“Filling: Remove stones from 6 dates and chop dates. In a blender, blend 2 cage free fertile eggs, 1 drop of vanilla extract (optional), chopped dates, ½ banana (break into small pieces) and butter (room temperature) together until thick.

"Slice 2 ½ bananas lengthwise into halves. Slice laterally into 1/8-inch pieces. Fold bananas into filling mixture. Pour and spread evenly over crust and chill in freezer for 20 minutes.

“Topping: Blend 5 ounces cream and 2 teaspoons honey in an 8-ounce jar on low speed until it is fluffy and stiff. Repeat two more times, each time with 5 ounces cream and 2 teaspoons honey in an 8-ounce jar. Remove pie from freezer and top with whipped cream. Let stand in refrigerator for 2 hours.”

Let A Raw Food Diet Improve Your Health

Let A Raw Food Diet Improve Your Health
By Eating Raw Foods You Can Achieve The Health You Have Always Desired

Unfortunately, the positive connection between raw foods and health is still little known by most people. In fact, the majority of people have been led to believe erroneous information when it comes to following a proper diet, believing that simply choosing foods from the food nutrition guide is good enough.

Even though eating a diet based on suggestions from the food nutrition guide may be a good first step toward proper nutrition, if you hope to achieve optimal health you should take the extra step of following a particular raw food diet that creates a well-balanced diet.

There are several books and diets based on the subject of eating raw foods, but not all are the same. While the basic premise of each raw food diet is the same, it is the subtle nuances that can make all the difference in your health.

For example, several raw food diet plans do not call for eating raw meat. Raw meat, however, is extremely beneficial to your entire body, including immune system, which means it can help protect your body from disease. Therefore, eating raw meats should be incorporated into you’re optimal diet plan.

With a raw food diet that includes meats, you will enjoy many benefits, including...

Improved and easy digestion, and improved small intestinal and bowel functions

Reduced susceptibility to disease, including cancer, fibromyalgia, diabetes, and more

Better weight management, including losing weight if overweight or putting on lean muscle mass if underweight

Greater nutritional value from foods

With so many benefits associated with a particular diet based on eating raw foods, it is easy to see why increasing numbers of people are exploring ways to incorporate eating raw roods into their regular diet.

Here is a letter to the author showing the raw food diet benefits to a gentleman named Don:

“I first came to see you with the following list of chronic ailments: inability to gain weight no matter what or how much I ate (assimilation of nutrients was bad, my digestion was not good and I was losing interest in all but salty and sweet foods. I was craving fat but ingesting it in the wrong forms). daily low back/hip pain (often severely limiting my ability to bend or sit comfortably). eczema (sometimes severe, particularly in flexion areas of the body, since I was a baby). irritability low energy (almost complete shutdowns nearly every day about 2:30 p.m. or so). sensitivity and pain in some of my teeth (including sensitivity to cold). high incidence of upper respiratory infections. frequent sinus blockage. low tolerance for high temperatures and exposure to the sun. joint pains that traveled to different areas of the body (sometimes the knees, or shoulders or other areas).

... For a year and 3 months now, I have been following your dietary suggestions over 90% of the time and eating raw foods including raw meats-except pork, raw fats-eggs, dairy and vegetable such as avocado and cold pressed oils, vegetable juice with raw milk or cream in it, fruits-especially pineapple, papaya, tomatoes, raw honey, raw apple cider vinegar, some salads and very little cooked starch or bread.

Your book and consultations have really had a profoundly positive impact on my health! I have eliminated all the problems on the list except for my skin now (which only bothers me in 2 small areas now, primarily during the winter. In the summer, the diet and the stronger sun cleared my skin completely!

I have returned to running for exercise (which I had stopped doing due to pains), my weight has gone from 217 to 230 (and my muscle mass is much improved, I am not fat and I should state that this weight gain was something I desired!). My energy levels are much more consistent (no huge dips now). I am thoroughly enjoying the sun and heat now (which is good since I live in Sou. Calif.!) I have been able to quit using caffeine to extend my wakefulness and energy, and I seldom crave sweets anymore. If I do, unsteamed, organic dates and raw honey do the trick, or carob powder with raw butter and honey over bananas.

And raw fats are amazing! They soothe the nerves and give me lots of energy. I especially love raw cream! And after a year of eating plenty of raw dairy, my most recent physical showed very low cholesterol levels.

I am appreciative and grateful for finding solutions to problems that were interfering with the quality of life, and may have been indicators of much more serious and life-threatening illness to come. I am sorry I didn't encounter this "paradigm shift" in the way I eat before I was 42! But I am enjoying the best health of my life now!

Thank you. Have a prosperous and healthy year.”

Erratic Heart Beats Have Disappeared

Erratic Heart Beats Have Disappeared

I no longer have my attention on my heart which had been beating erratically for the last couple years. After noticing the calmness...I found no missing beats...or irregularities. My whole system seems calmer. No gas or rumbling in my gut. I never believed it could happen. My fervent thanks to you, Aajonus."

Primal Diet Began Improving Health In One Month

Primal Diet Began Improving Health In One Month

About four years ago my health began to slip away.My weight dropped from 185 to 149 in just months. My digestion had basically shut down. I felt old and tired. I had tried everything I knew to reverse my decline. Nothing was working. Then I met Aajonus. After only a month of eating the Primal Diet, I had more energy, was quickly regaining my weight and feeling alive again.

That was three years ago and I am still enjoying and teaching the results of this amazing diet".

Raw Food Diet Replaces Vegan, Vegetarian Diet

Raw Food Diet Replaces Vegan, Vegetarian Diet

You may receive some whole pile of letters from around the world. But I'm so glad you didn't balk at reading mail I sent you. I must admit that those your replies, never mind short and concise, greatly boosted my morale levels and just inspire to always move further in terms of
Primal Diet. Yes, it must be confessed that you are my guru or master, or mentor even despite I've never talked to you... It is difficult to imagine how much people you have saved by just giving so natural healthgiving tips and hints. Although I've never met any raw meat eater at all, eating this way helps me to feel like I'm a part of the increasing Primal family!

I don't want to take your time but I'd like to share with you some of my latest Primal Diet experiences. In my previous letters I mentioned that I started eating your way after exhausting vegan/vegetarian diet (my weight back than was c. 115 lb). Four months have passed and I
much improved my general health and weight in particular. I reached my "personal best" which equals 175 lb. First, while adding near 6 lb every seven days, I thought I would never stop gaining weight but last week it remained stable without any changes in the diet. I became far more fatty and have a little belly I think. Now I realize it is a high time to start the weight-loss plan.

Before I started raw meats "therapy" I suffered from constant tirredness and weakness as a result of veganism and malnutrition. Thus, fats, proteins and other nutrients have done its part and with so desirable lbs of weight gain I also getrid of the above conditions and started to regain previous vigour, strenth and alertness. Both in terms of weight and general well-being
my health have significantly improved and I got noticeably better and healthier appearance.

Also some inner changes may as well have occured. As high-fruit-no-fat vegan diet may have impaired some of the organs (suppose, liver, kidney and pancreas) plenty of raw fats I consumed over this four months definitely helped a lot! While I'm not an expert to asses the possible damage done not at any price in the world I would go and consult a doctor... Be as it is. My idea is that if raw food cannot help than nothing can!

I also have some other benefits to report. It seems this diet makes me happy, relaxed and philosophical person all in all. I've found the right way and I still do think the only in this life. As hard may I try I cannot put the other case so spiritually-lifting and health-giving thing as Primal Diet is. It's termless and so enjoyable experience which allows you to fully rejoice in life's pleasures. It brings enormous mental clarity, helps to keep self-control and peace
of mind. Words fail me...

Yes, this style certainly don't lack any passion and that's what insipres me most. I wouldn't say that I crave much attention but such an approach tends to result in a fragmented argument. I must admit that most often you'll be in the limelight due to out of this world
habit of eating. What the hell do I care?

Following the Primal Diet you always have to act in cold blood and with some composure plus to have a level head... To succeed you'd better take everythung coolly, esp. criticism, abuse and malicious attacks;) You may end up as a public favorite or completely fail and become social outcast. Things may be different in the USA but it's reality here (in Ukraine), a very sad one though!

I do my best to be tolerable among the elder public, especially when eating-out. I'm willing to do anything in reason but is it possible at all? It seems as if I'm damned to eternal silence, strange looks and ironical remarks... Honestly, I wouldn't swap my attitude for ordinary
routine. All in all I never fail to see the the good of doing this and that what takes me forward. Maybe the only thing I wish would be to one day attend Primal potluck, meet some nice like minded RAW people, chat with you and read your books. Thank you a million once again! You
are the BEST, ever! warmest regards,
Yuriy

Chronic Fatigue & Hpoglycemia Improves With Raw Diet

Chronic Fatigue & Hpoglycemia Improves With Raw Diet

I felt food was making us sick. I spent 10 yrs eating clean square meal diet of cooked meat, fruits & vegetables. I was not satisfied with that, because I had chronic fatigue & hypoglycemia really bad. The hypoglycemia affected me because my blood sugar was constantly dropping, making me irritable and overemotional.

I constantly had to make sure that I ate at a certain time all day every day 24/7 or I would crash. It was very restrictive and I was very sensitive. I was introduced to one kind of raw foods diet by some sites, and decided to become a vegetarian, then I felt fruitarian would be easy and better. I had met a person who had been a fruitarian for over 35 years so I started to emulate him.

I was a fruitarian for seven months before I finally was so malnourished and deficient that I thought I was going to die. My heart was beating out of my chest, I was hyperventilating and my body was in "alarm" mode - anything I tried to do differently, my whole body would react. This sent me to the hospital....I knew being a fruitarian was too extreme.

I was about to go back to the cooked food, when I talked to someone who mentioned Aajonus to me. I went to his website. I read his testimony about raw meat and raw dairy, within 20 minutes, I knew that I knew. That was my problem right there. I had never heard of that, my family had never heard of that, everyone thinks you've lost it.

I was craving it. I was malnourished and in starvation mode. After the first seven days I knew for sure this was what I was supposed to do. Then I met with Aajonus to make sure I knew what I was doing this time. In the past I had just gone off without anybody who knew what I was
doing.I went to my naturopath as well because he had been my naturopath for years. I knew he wouldn't steer me wrong. He said "Norma, do not be ashamed of raw meat." He Oked this diet.

Now it has been a year and two months. My weight has balanced, which I severely needed. All my conditions have improved. I am much stronger, with more clarity; my memory has improved.I have had various detoxification periods all of which were definitely worth it. By sticking to it and not quitting, but doing what Aajonus had said, I would come out of it at a new level. Now each bad condition is either much better or has gone altogether.

After this last detox period, I was able to jump up and down and dance a lot. I could dance so much better without any stiffness in my knees. Now I know that nothing is acceptable other than the raw food diet because in this generation and the world we live in... our food is so toxic that we have to be extreme. Most significantly Aajonus' diet has calmed
me and made me much less emotional and more focused, more determined and more tolerant of people in my life, including co-workers and family... My children are better off. That is one of my motivating factors: I want to be the best I can for the people around me because I know my behavior affects people around me."
